TRYOUT REGISTRATION DEADLINE THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10TH!!!

ALL ATHLETES MUST TRYOUT AT AGE LEVEL.

If any athlete is considered being moved up an age level, that information will be communicated to the athlete at the conclusion of either the club or the team tryout. 

What school you go to, what team you are on at your school, if you are playing "up", or if you were cut,  what team you made last year for MN Attack, or if you played for a different club, etc. has no bearing on MN Attack team placement. 

All team placements are based solely on our two day process.

All tryouts are held at 
PRAIRIE WINDS MIDDLE SCHOOL
1200 Prairie Winds Dr.
Mankato, MN

 

Athletes must be able to attend both tryout dates for their age group

11-14s (4th-8th grade) Tryouts:

CLUB TRYOUT: Thursday, October 24 

11-12s: 6:00-7:00pm (Uniform fitting 7-7:30pm)

13s: 7-8:30pm (Uniform fitting 6:25-6:55pm)

14s: 8:30-10:00pm (Uniform fitting 7:55-8:25pm)

TEAM PLACEMENT TRYOUT: Sunday, October 27 

14s: 9:00-10:45am

13s: 10:45-12:30pm

11-12s: 1:00-2:30pm

 

15-18s (9th-12th grade) Tryouts:

CLUB TRYOUT: Saturday, November 2 

17-18s: 9:00-10:45am (Uniform fitting 10:45-11:15am)

16s: 10:45-12:30pm (Uniform fitting 10:10-10:40am)

15s: 1:00-2:45pm (Uniform fitting 12:25-12:55pm)

TEAM PLACEMENT TRYOUT: Sunday, November 10 9am-3pm

17-18s: 9:00-10:45am 

16s: 10:45-12:30pm

15s: 1:00-2:45pm 

 

 

Please contact Coach Kirby at mnattack@gmail.com if athlete is still in season (going to state) for her High School team. Athletes are eligible to compete in tryouts after they lose their last game of their season. 

JVA/MN Attack will allow grade waivered players. The age waiver will allow the athlete to play at grade level with their peers instead of based on her DOB - provided they are not more than one year older than the current age definition. Please contact Coach Kirby at mnattack@gmail.com if your athlete will need to be grade waivered.

YOU MUST REGISTER BASED ON YOUR DOB (JO AGE)

It is rare that athletes will play above their age level. MN Attack will consider moving players to play at a higher age level based on numbers, positional need and skill level. When a player is moved up an age level, she may make any level (1s, 2s, 3s, etc.). Each team is formed based on similar skill levels.  Example: a 15s player may be moved to our 16-3 team. This does not mean if she were to stay at the 15s level that she would make the 15-1 team. It simply means that her skill level is most similar to the athletes at the 16-3 level AND that the team would benefit from her position. 

 

Multi-sport Athletes: We encourage athletes to participate in other sports and activities.  We believe school sports come first. We also believe it is imperative for athletes to be at practice and be with their team in order to improve and prepare for competition. Playing time may be reduced even if excused missed practices. It is up to the coach's discretion if the athlete is ready to compete with her team.

MULTI-SPORT ATHLETES MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND 80% OF ALL MN ATTACK ACTIVITIES (PRACTICES, TOURNAMENTS, TEAM BONDINGS, ETC)

Please do not register for tryouts if you can not commit to at least 80%

  • $40 Club Tryout Fee (no processing fees)
  • $325 deposit is due at the club tryout for all ages. Any athlete who is not selected to the club will receive their deposit payment back.  (Total season fee: 13-18s $975; 11-12s $575)
  • Each athlete will receive a t-shirt at check in with a number on the back of their tryout t-shirt.
  • We have a 2 day tryout process. At Day 1 tryout (Club Tryout), athletes will be evaluated on the fundamentals of the game through drills and stations. At this tryout we will make any cuts necessary. Athletes who are selected to the club will be listed on our webpage by tryout number only. If an athlete's number is not listed, she did not make the club and the full deposit of $325 will be refunded.  
  • Athletes selected to the club are then required to come to Day 2 tryout (team placement)
  • At day 2 of tryouts, athletes will be evaluated through game like situations and situations based on positional need.  At this tryout we will make final decisions for team placement of each athlete. 
  • If you no longer want to be considered for a position within the club, an email including player name and tryout number must be received within one hour following the club tryout.
  • ANY ATHLETE WHO CHOOSES TO QUIT AT ANY TIME AFTER CLUB MEMBERS ARE CHOSEN WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND.

18s (12th graders) - cannot turn 19 before July 1, 2025

17s (11th graders) - cannot turn 18 before July 1, 2025

16s (10th graders) - cannot turn 17 before July 1, 2025

15s (9th graders) - cannot turn 16 before July 1, 2025

14s (8th graders) - cannot turn 15 before July 1, 2025

13s (7th graders) - cannot turn 14 before July 1, 2025

12s (6th graders) - cannot turn 13 before July 1, 2025

11s (4-5th graders) - cannot turn 12 before July 1, 2025

  • Tryout Details
    • Register on-line by OCTOBER 10th. www.mnattackvolleyball.com
    • NO WALK ONS WILL BE ACCEPTED
    • Location: Prairie Winds Middle School, Mankato
  • 11-14 Year Old Tryouts: Club Tryout: October 24; Team Placement Tryout: October 27
  • 15-18 Year Old Tryouts: Club Tryout: Nov. 2; Team Placement Tryout: Nov. 10
  • $40 Tryout Fee
  • Each athlete will have a number on the back of their tryout t-shirt and all tryout numbers who are selected to our club will be listed on our webpage by 6:00PM after the club tryout. 
  •  $325 deposit is due at the first tryout for all ages. Any athlete who is not selected to the club will receive their deposit payment back. Athletes selected to the club are then required to come to the team placement tryout.
  • Team Selection:
    • Due to limited practice space, we will form limited number of teams with 9-10 athletes per team
    • Athletes will be placed on a team based on skill level, positional need, and age
    • Team selections are final
  • Season Dates: December 5, 2024-March 9, 2025
  • Practices:
    • 2x a week 13-18s teams, 1-2x a week 11-12s teams
    • Practices times will vary and will be held on any day of the week except Wednesdays. Practices will be 1.5 hours long and held in various locations
  • Tournament Dates:
    • 11-12s teams will play in 5 total tournaments
    • 13-18s teams will play in 7 total tournaments
    • All locations are TBD – all teams are guaranteed 1 multiple day tournament
    • All tournament dates will be decided once teams are formed. Tentative list by Nov.26
    • All lodging and transportation are to be provided by the athletes/families
  • Fee:
    • $975 13-18s
    • $575 11-12s
    • Fee Includes:
      • Uniform package
        • 13-18s: 2 jerseys, 2 practice t-shirts, 1 hoodie, 1 water bottle, 1 backpack
        • 11-12s: 1 jersey, 1 practice t-shirt, 1 hoodie, 1 backpack, 1 water bottle
      • Tournament registrations, coach salaries, practice gym rentals, team insurance, coach background checks, equipment, administrative fees and misc. club expenses
    • Fee will be broken into 3 payments for 13-18s and 2 payments for 11-12s teams. The first payment is due at tryouts. If athlete does not make a team, a full refund will be given.
    • All players will have to donate their time at one of our 8 home tournaments or donate $40 towards our Attack tournaments
  • Fundraising:
    • These are OPTIONAL
    • All fundraising proceeds go directly to individual player fee and will reduce final payment. If athlete earns more than her third payment, a refund check will be issued
    • All items sold will earn $5/item towards player fee

  • Cancellation Policy
    • No refunds will be given unless the league shuts down or the State shuts down sports. Any refund would be prorated accordingly. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR CHOOSING TO QUIT AFTER TEAMS ARE FORMED.
